The Chicago Refugee Center is a Chicago-based organization that is designed to help refugees in the Chicago area. It is currently in the establishing phase and its founders hope to provide efficient service shortly. Once it is fully established, the Center will focus its activities on three major areas:
1. Advocacy for refugees
2. International human rights policy
3. Local coordination between the Center and other refugee relief
agencies
Advocacy for refugees:
The Center intends to provide legal representation to individuals in
Chicago and throughout the Midwest who are seeking refuge or asylum.
The Center intends also to provide legal training for area law students
and practitioners interested in refugee/asylum law.
International human rights policy
The Center will provide a forum for academics, students, and practitioners
to formulate and advocate national and international refugee and human
rights policy.
Coordination:
The Center will work with organizations that provide services to immigrants
and refugees.
